■Main Functions

You can open a Japan Post Bank passbook-less general account in as little as one day.

・Declaration of Transaction Purpose, etc. / Update of Residence Period, etc. / Transaction Verification
You can declare your latest customer information when there are changes to the transaction purpose you have registered with the bank or when updating information such as your residence period.
・Address/Name Change
When your address or name changes, you can immediately change the address and name registered with your account.
*A cash card with the new name will not be issued.
*You can also change either your address or name.
* PIN Re-registration
If you forget your ATM card PIN, you can re-register a new PIN and use your account immediately.
* Passbook/Card Reissuance
If your passbook or ATM card is lost or stolen, you can apply for a reissue.
*A prescribed fee will be charged depending on the reason for reissuance.
* Inheritance Procedure Application
You can report information about the deceased or the heirs.
*Within approximately two weeks of reporting, a Japan Post Bank specialist department will send you information regarding the necessary documents. Please prepare the necessary documents as instructed and submit them to the savings counter at your nearest Japan Post Bank or post office.
■ Items to Prepare
* Smartphone (with camera and IC chip reading function (NFC function))
* Japan Post Bank Passbook App, Japan Post Bank Authentication App, and one of the following identification documents (driver's license, My Number Card, or residence card) (excluding inheritance procedure applications)
* When foreign nationals apply to open an account, they must apply using their residence card. Additionally, we may request additional photos of your employee ID or student ID.
* Depending on the procedure and account registration status, identity verification documents may be required.
■ Customers who cannot use this app:
* Corporate and organizational customers (including individual customers using accounts for business purposes)
* Customers using the adult guardianship system
* Customers not residing in Japan
* Even if you are not one of the above customers, you may not be able to use this app depending on the service you are requesting and the status of your account.
■ Notes:
* We only accept applications from individual customers who are the account holder themselves (excluding applications for opening a child account or inheritance procedures).
* Accounts opened with this app are passbook-less comprehensive accounts. If you require a passbook, you can apply for one using your cash card at an ATM with a passbook renewal function (switching to a passbook account). There is no fee for the first time within two months of account opening (a prescribed fee will apply after two months).
* This app does not require seal registration when opening an account. Customers who require seal registration for their account, such as for automatic payment of utility bills, should bring their cash card, the seal they wish to register, and a photo ID to their nearest Japan Post Bank or post office savings counter after their account is opened to complete the seal registration procedure.
* The service is unavailable between 11:50 PM and 12:05 AM the following day (excluding applications for inheritance procedures).
* This app is free to use. However, communication charges incurred during download and use will be borne by the customer.
