UPX is a VPN proxy browser that routes traffic through proxy servers in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Singapore, masking the user's IP address and presenting requests as originating from a different geographic location. This enables access to websites restricted in the user's region or network environment.

The proxy functionality operates automatically without requiring additional configuration. Traffic routes through the proxy network immediately upon app launch, enabling access to websites behind geographic restrictions or firewalls. Social media platforms and other services operating behind location-based or firewall-enforced blocks can be unblocked. Server selection and IP assignment occur transparently—users navigate normally while the app handles all routing in the background.

UPX incorporates Tor tunnel technology into its privacy architecture. Traffic routes through multiple relay points before reaching destination websites, creating additional layers of anonymity beyond the primary proxy server routing. Tor and proxy routing together obscure both user identity and geographic location, providing redundant protection.

IP addresses are assigned dynamically across browsing sessions, preventing tracking systems and websites from correlating multiple visits to a single persistent network identifier. Requests to the same website appear to originate from different IP addresses, making it difficult to build activity profiles based on network history.

The application emphasizes privacy through its data handling practices. UPX stores no browsing history, activity logs, server-side records, or session data. Users can manually delete local browsing history through an integrated feature, and the app provides incognito browsing mode that creates no activity record on the device. Combined with server-side no-logging practices, these features ensure no browsing trail remains either remotely or locally.

UPX secures WiFi hotspot connections by routing and encrypting traffic through the browser interface. When connected to public wireless networks, this protects data from network monitoring or interception. However, this protection applies only to browsing within UPX—email, messaging, and other apps on the device operate outside the proxy.

The application is built as lightweight software without bandwidth limitations, throttling, or data caps. Extended browsing sessions do not face performance degradation or restrictions. The app is available free of charge without subscription or payment requirements.

Anonymity and website unblocking are confined to the browser environment. The app provides IP masking and firewall bypass only for web browsing, not system-wide protection. Email, messaging, and other apps remain outside the protection layer. For comprehensive privacy across all network activity, additional tools beyond UPX are necessary.
