RailOne is the official mobile application for Indian Railways, developed by CRIS (Centre for Railway Information Systems) under the Ministry of Railways, offering end-to-end train booking and journey management capabilities for rail passengers traveling throughout India.
The core functionality centers on train discovery and ticket procurement. Users can search for available trains across the Indian railway network, then book reserved or unreserved seats according to their travel requirements and preferences. After booking, passengers can access their ticket details, complete booking history, and records of canceled journeys through the app. Filtering options allow users to sort bookings by duration or transaction type, making it easy to locate specific past journeys or review transaction records.
For passengers already onboard, real-time train tracking provides current location data, live delay updates, and expected arrival times. The app also includes a coach position finder to help passengers locate their assigned coach once the train has departed. This feature addresses a practical need in Indian railway travel, where consist changes or platform arrangements can leave passengers uncertain about coach positioning within the train.
The R-Wallet digital wallet system manages journey-related transactions within the app. Users can load funds into their wallet account, streamlining payment for ticket purchases and onboard services. The wallet also supports refund requests for canceled journeys or missed trains, allowing passengers to initiate refunds through the same interface where they can review their complete transaction history.
Onboard services extend beyond basic ticketing. The app enables food ordering from partner vendors while the train is in motion, offering passengers meal options without requiring disembarkation. This catering service integrates into the app interface alongside other journey functions, creating a consolidated platform for managing multiple aspects of the travel experience.
User account management relies on single sign-on authentication, which provides seamless access across connected railway services without requiring separate credentials. Biometric authentication can be toggled on or off per user preference, providing an optional security layer for sensitive transactions. Account details—including name, email, and password—are editable through app settings, though name changes are limited to one-time only to prevent frequent alterations. Email verification is required during setup to maintain account security and confirm user identity. Users can delete their account entirely if they wish to discontinue service, which removes all associated data and access permissions.
Rail Madad provides customer support and feedback mechanisms directly within the app. Passengers can report service issues, lost and found inquiries, or general feedback from their device and monitor the resolution status of submitted reports without requiring separate correspondence.
The interface supports multiple languages, accommodating the diverse linguistic communities of Indian railway users across different regions. The application is available on both Android and iOS platforms, providing access across the range of mobile devices used by rail passengers.
