Location-based matching operates in real time through the app. Opening Nomadtable in a new city displays solo travelers currently present there. This real-time component is central to the app's functionality: the displayed people are genuinely in that location, making same-day or same-week coordination straightforward. Unlike general travel or social platforms that might show travelers from anywhere, Nomadtable prioritizes geographic specificity. Users can quickly identify others nearby and propose activities or join existing plans.

Beyond user-created activities, Nomadtable incorporates AI-powered recommendations for activities and venues, tailored to each user's current location and travel interests. Setting up a profile requires basic information: age, home country, languages spoken, and travel interests. This information enables the app's matching algorithms and informs AI recommendations. The free version allows real-time activity discovery, joining plans proposed by nearby travelers, and participating in group chats for coordination. Premium subscribers gain substantially expanded access. While free users view other solo travelers currently nearby, premium members access a complete list of all solo travelers in their city, significantly widening the potential connection pool. Premium subscribers can boost their profile visibility in other travelers' feeds, placing their profile higher in discovery results. AI-powered activity and venue recommendations are unlimited for premium users, whereas free users encounter limits on recommendation frequency. For trip planning, premium subscribers can add unlimited future destinations and join multiple trip-based group chats simultaneously, while free accounts have limits.

The app includes an optional identity verification process that allows travelers to display a verified status on their profile. When users complete verification, it signals to other potential activity partners that they have confirmed their identity, providing reassurance when considering group plans with unfamiliar travelers. This verification step is voluntary rather than mandatory, giving users control over whether they want to undertake additional identity confirmation while remaining visible and discoverable in the app community.
