The app "HochwassergefahrST" visualizes flood hazard maps for the state of Saxony-Anhalt in its map section. It displays the classified water depths of areas that would be flooded during a flood event. The display can be selected for three defined scenarios with different probabilities of occurrence. In addition to the 100-year flood (HQ10), which statistically occurs once every 100 years, the app can illustrate the impacts of the 10-year and 200-year flood probabilities. The areas shown do not depict past events, but rather represent calculation results with a defined statistical probability of occurrence. Within the map display, current water levels at each gauge location can be accessed by tapping the gauge symbols in the app. In the event of flooding, the gauge symbols are colored according to the currently reached alarm levels of the flood warning gauges. Flood protection dikes under state responsibility can also be displayed. Tapping the dike line opens relevant master data for the respective dike section. Either topographic maps or satellite images can be selected as the background (underlying base map). The display of the available data (flood hazard map, dikes, gauges) can be toggled on and off in the sidebar, which can be shown or hidden via the menu icon in the upper left corner. The "Location," "Current Location," and
Overview buttons allow you to zoom (jump) to a selected location, the user's current location, and the country overview on the map. A legend explaining the content displayed on the map is located at the bottom of the sidebar. The sidebar is scrollable.
In the upper right corner of the header, you can access current reports on flood warnings and information from the Flood Forecasting Center (HVZ). A search field in the center of the header allows you to search for specific water levels and dikes. The search for water levels and/or dikes can be further filtered using two toggle switches. Additionally, water levels and dikes can be found by the name of the municipality in which they are located. A heart-shaped icon allows you to access your favorites.
The "Flood Hazard ST" app provides important explanations about flood risk and the content of flood hazard maps in the "Advice" section. For specific flood situations, references to further information sources on the current situation and explanations of the common alert and notification levels are available. In addition, numerous resources on flood protection measures and self-preparation are provided. All relevant terms are explained in the glossary. Tapping on a topic displays the available content. Within subtopics, a "back" button (left arrow) is located in the upper left corner, allowing users to return to the main topic. The "Flood Hazard ST" app also provides information about the app in the "Information" section. In addition to user help and legal terms, options are available to report feedback and bugs to the app's developers and operators.
The "Flood Hazard ST" app also provides information about the app itself in the "Information" section. Regional restriction: The "HochwassergefahrST" app contains
exclusively data from Saxony-Anhalt. Therefore, this app can only be used effectively within the territory of Saxony-Anhalt.
