Gateway REDMOND is an app that allows REDMOND users to control their smart devices from anywhere in the world.
Start a dinner program, brew coffee, and heat the kettle to the exact degree—now you can do all this while out for a walk or on the way home from work.
To implement this idea, you'll need a second Android smartphone or tablet, which you leave at home as a gateway—a link to your smart devices.
Now, wherever you are, your home gateway can receive commands from your primary smartphone and forward them to any smart device.
Controlling your smart home devices is faster and more efficient, even at home, thanks to a stable connection to the gateway.
How to set up the Gateway REDMOND app in 5 steps.
1. Download and launch the Gateway REDMOND app on the smartphone or tablet you'll use at home as a connection to your smart appliances.
2. Log in to the Gateway REDMOND app using the same account you use for the Ready for Sky REDMOND app.
3. In the Ready for Sky REDMOND app on your primary smartphone, select the appliances you want to control remotely.
4. Make sure the selected appliances appear in the Gateway REDMOND app.
5. You're done! You can now control your home appliances from any distance.
ATTENTION
• The Gateway REDMOND app requires Android 7.0 or higher.
• The Gateway REDMOND app only works with the Ready for Sky REDMOND app.
• For a stable connection, all smart devices and the gadget running the Gateway REDMOND app must be within Bluetooth range.
• The app uses the foreground service to maintain a stable and continuous BLE connection initiated by the user. This functionality is key to continuously controlling smart home devices and synchronizing their status in real time.
While in gateway mode, the app displays a persistent notification informing the user that BLE communication is active. The user can stop the gateway service at any time through the app.
Using the foreground service is necessary because Android can pause BLE communication when the device goes into standby mode or when the screen turns off, which will result in a disconnected connection and disrupt smart home functions.
